“Petalcan” is a striking coastal pelican crafted entirely from real pressed botanicals. Rich ochre, rust, and deep brown petals form the textured body, while the head and neck blend warm cream, golden, and burgundy tones. Layered dark petals create the pelican’s long beak, accented with soft blue hydrangea petals that mimic a freshly caught fish.
Perched on overlapping pressed leaves, and surrounded by tall coastal grasses, this piece captures the quiet elegance and character of the pelicans that frequent southern shorelines.
All florals and botanicals were grown or gathered in South Carolina and preserved using traditional flower-pressing techniques. The original artwork was professionally photographed to honor every petal, grain, and natural texture.
